Elinor Lyon’s first children’s book, Hilary’s Island, was published in 1948, when her first child was still a baby. She followed this with 19 more books (and three more children) while living at Rugby School, where her father had been Headmaster and her husband, Peter Wright, was a Housemaster. Her last children’s book, The Floodmakers, was published in 1976, shortly after she and her husband retired to Wales. She died in 2008. |
